2008 Home Run Derby
Saturday, October 4th at 1:30pm
Legion Field
CHASM Baseball Presents the 2008 Home Run Derby
Time and Location: 1:30pm Saturday, October 4th at Legion Field
Derby Rules:
- $5 entry fee due by 1:45pm on the day of the derby
- Winner collects 75% of entry fees collected. Runner-up collects 25%
- Number of players may be limited
- Players may bring or choose their own pitcher(s)
- Wood bats required
- All discrepancies/disputes will be resolved at the discretion of the derby coordinator
- Opening Round:
- Player turns will be determined by the derby coordinator
- Each player will get 10 outs (an out is any swing that does not result in a home run)
- Top four player home run totals advance to the final round
- If necessary, up to two tie breaker rounds will be played with each player getting 3
outs.
- If a tie still exists after two tie breaker rounds, each player will get one swing to hit the
furthest fair ball as judged by the derby coordinator. Any home runs hit during this
round will be considered the same distance and the process will repeat until there are
four finalists.
- Final Round:
- Players with the least home runs, not including tie breakers, in previous round will go
first in order. Player turns in tie scenarios will be determined by derby coordinator.
- One home run for every three home runs hit in the opening round, not including tie
breaker round home runs, will carry over to the final round if the player hits at least
one home run in the final round (ie. If a player hits 6 HRs in the first round and 1 HR
in the final round, the total HRs counted for the final round will be 3 HRs)
- Each player will get 5 outs
- Top player home run total wins the derby
- If necessary, up to three tie breaker rounds will be played with each player getting 3
- If a tie still exists after three tie breaker rounds, the player with the most home runs in
the derby, not including tie breaker rounds, will be the winner.
- If a tie still exists after total home runs are tallied, each player will get one swing to hit
the furthest fair ball as judged by the derby coordinator. Any home runs hit during this
round will be considered the same distance and the process will repeat until there is a
winner.
