Two points about field work. One, Bumpy Oak ALWAYS shows to work on the field, big game-small game, May or September. Thank God for them or the field would always be under water for all the help they receive from the rest of the league. And two, I saw Stefko and Johnny K. there Friday night bailing water. Seems they just wanted to play ball, not worry about matchups.

Why would you want the scores and standings to be updated so often? All you will see is your team falling down in the standings. All you have to do is call your friends on the other teams and find out the score, if you want to know them so bad.

Like you, our website administrator cannot attend all the games either as he is a player and he can only post scores as fast as he receives them. It is up to the respective managers to inform him of game results and I dare say he does not get them all in a timely manner. (P.S. The scores are now updated.)

Mr Boyd please feel free to look at the scorebook for that game when we play you tomorrow or whenever. You will see tons of walks, hbps, wild pitches, passed balls, and errors by the marines that accounted for the majority of the runs that were scored. Those were the only stats that were boosted in that game.

Thanks for the info about the vote to change the run rule to 7 innings and the score correction T. So the blame for games that are out of hand having to continue till 7 innings goes to the umpires, who are more interested in making a little more money than stopping a game that is completely out of hand scorewise.

Not that it matters, but I was told by the Combine manager the score was 31-2, so that is what will be posted. Also, the league did not vote to extend the run rule to seven innings. That is what was in the umpire contract, so we had to be consistent with it.

One of the reasons that we have scores like that in our league is that the team managers voted to only allow the run rule to take effect after seven innings instead of five. Combine had called off the dogs and stopped taking extra bases and moving up on wild pitches as soon as they were up by the run rule amount. Allowing a game like that to continue for two more innings is just plain wrong!

Chris, I maintain the St. Mary s Door team website, I am not talking about this site, and I try to keep the scores of every game updated on our site, as baseball is a game of statistics above and beyond wins and losses (e.g., runs for versus runs against). The message board was a useful tool to relay information regarding games, events and other related information and opinions (with maturity - people do go to the website to see what type of people we are in the League).
